Palin for VP.

As we all know, the 2008 presidential elections are approaching fast, and one of the questions that has been on everyone's mind are the Vice Presidents. Obama choice Joe Biden as his running mate, citing his experience in foreign policy, and his seniority in the senate. But what really has the press buzzing is John McCain's choice for VP: Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin. This choice has left many people shocked, and has brought forth much controversy over McCain's second-in-command choice. Ruth Marcus from washingtonpost.com believes that choosing Palin as a running mate undermines McCain's shot at the White House because of Palins lack of experience, her only experience having been govnernor for less than two years. The washingtonpost also called McCains choice "ludicrous", believing that the only reason McCain selected Palin was to pander to the agitated Clinton supporters. However, an article from slate.com praises McCain's choice, saying that Palin will help support McCain's reform policies, citing that she fought corruption, and bussiness as well as standing up to big oil companies. This also weakens some of the arguments that have been made against Obama. Many Republicans have critisized Obama because of his lack of experience, however with this development, the Republicans are either going to have to pull a U-turn, or continue their "experience" argument and be viewed as hypocrites.
These articles were particularly interesting to me because of the balance of views. Many of the articles on both washingtonpost.com and slate were complaining about McCain's VP choice. out of all the articles I read, there were only a few that supported McCain's choice, and even then they began to turn the argument to the weak points of selecting Sarah Palin. I found this particularly annoying because I believe that the media should be firm in what they believe, and not try to have their cake and eat it. If anything, presenting one argument, then turning around and showing the other side does nothing but make one seem insecure about their decision.
